Kajsa won BOB Puppy and Group 2 at the Lahti all breed puppy show. Judge was Mrs. Taina Nygård.

Puppies (Kajsa, Leila and Fredi) were shown for the first time at the Orivesi all breed puppy show. All three received the honorary prize with Kajsa winning BOB puppy and placing 4th in the group finals and Fredi being BOS puppy. Judge was Mrs. Jaana Hartus.

New Finnish Champion

Martta and Kylli were shown at the Kouvola all breed show. Kylli took CC, BOB and became new Finnish Champion. Martta was runner up for the best bitch and BOB veteran. Judge was Mr. Massimiliano Mannucci, Italy.

Martta also competed in the junior handler with her new friend Lotta and they placed among the best ten handlers.

Niilo got his second CC and was BOB at the Oulu all breed show. Judge was Mr. Rajko Rotner, Slovenia. Martta went BOS and Best of Breed Veteran.

The first Maple Bay litter is on the ground! Nine puppies (6 f + 3 m), all black & tan. Mom and kids are doing excellent!
The father of the kids far away in US can now light his cigar, figuratively speaking at least.

Martta turned 8 years, veteran class is calling. She doesn't seem a bit of her age though. Celebration within the family in the weekend, looking forward to Kylli's puppies..

Niilo turned three years and Kylli was inseminated. Niilo did not feel like partying, poor boy only had one thing on his mind.. Kylli x Alamo puppies expected on wk 16, keep your fingers crossed!

Kylli turned 2 yrs. We celebrated her birthday at our new home in Kuru, together with brother Oljo.
It was great fun to play together until Oljo discovered that Kylli is not only his sister but also a female...

Martta was shown at the Kouvola all-breed show. She won BOB (judge Mr. Jorma Silta) and placed 3rd in the group (judge Mrs. Saija Juutilainen).

Niilo was shown at the all breed show in Turku and he received his first CC and was runner up for the best male. Judge was Mr. Antonio di Lorenzo, Italy.

Niilo practiced showing at the Tampere Flower Match Show organized by the Tampereen Seudun Koirakerho and the result was BIS-3.

Martta was shown at the all breed show in Hyvinkää. Result: BOB (judge Mr. Tapio Eerola, Finland) and Group 4 (judge Mrs. Saija Juutilainen, Finland)!

Martta and Kylli were shown at the Orivesi all breed show. Martta won BOB and Kylli was runner up for the best bitch and got her 2nd CC. Judge was Mr. Paavo Mattila, Finland.

Martta won BOS at the Specialty Show of the Bassethound Club of Finland in Joutsa. The judge was Mr. Juha Lehtinen, Finland.

The girls were shown in Helsinki International show under judge Mr. Mogens Slot Hansen (Denmark).
Martta took the breed and Kylli was the runner up for the best bitch, got her first CC and a reserve CACIB. She will also eventually get the CACIB that was given to Martta, as the FCI will transfer it to her as Martta is already an Int. Champion.

But in the afternoon Martta dropped the bomb by winning the Hound Group under judge Mrs. Saija Juutilainen (Finland). We're still completely wild about it!

Niilo passed his second SAR tracking test (basic test in the dark) in Tottijärvi. After this he still has two more final tests to be passed (daylight & dark).

Martta's 7th birthday. She celebrated in the country in Jyväskylä (running free in the woods) and in the city in Muurame (trailing). What more could a bloodhound wish for on her birthday, she did have a lot of goodies as well of course.

Niilo turned 2 yrs. However his birthday party was not held until Saturday the 17th, together with a good friend Vimma who turned 6 yrs on that day. Our birthday boy was very happy to have guests, both 2- and 4-legged ones. And of course presents were great too, as long as they existed..

Martta passed easily the SAR final test in daylight in urban environment. Now she is officially an alarm dog.

Martta passed her 4th SAR tracking test (final test in the dark). The test was performed in an urban area: she picked up the trail from a bus stop and followed it on the streets, sidewalks and walkways for 2 kilometers. All the test articles (mittens) were found from the trail and she even ID'ed the correct person from the lineup at the end.

Martta got her 3rd result from the open class in mantrailing in Tuusula. She was also the trial grand winner and moved on to the winners class. Judge was Ismo Koiranen.

Kylli turned one year old and celebrated this with a proper hike in the woods. After this she of course run a trail - piece of cake!.

Martta earned two more titles in Piteå, Sweden, under judge Mr. Cristian Stefanescu, Romania. After long consideration the judge chose her BOS and she became a Swedish and International champion.
The critique was superb: "Beautiful bitch, good substance, elegant general appearance, good expression. Beautiful shapes, good angulations. Typical coat and correct in movement and very good presented. Champion today, congrats!"

Kylli won BOB-puppy and Group 2 at the Tampere all-breed puppy show under judge Merja Järnstedt. Niilo passed his first SAR tracking test (basic test in daylight) with flying colors.

Martta celebrated her 6 yr birthday. Celebrating included mantrailing followed by a proper party with lots of special treats and guests, both two and four legged ones.

Niilo's one year birthday was of course celebrated as it is appropriate for a young man; delicacies were enjoyed and he even had ladies visiting, but of course he was allowed to socialize with them only under adult supervision. ;-)

A not-so-small christmas package for Maple Bay arrived from Switzerland: a bloodhound bitch puppy "Kylli" (Badger Creek's K9 Undercover Kylie). More from her later.

Martta won Best Of Opposite at the Nordic Winner Show in Helsinki under judge Mr. Gunnar Nyman, Denmark, and thus earned a title of "Nordic Winner 2005"!

Our SAR team Tampereen Seudun Etsintäkoirat (TSE ry) had SAR dog demonstrations each day at the Defense and Security Fair held in Tampere September 9-11, 2005 and on Sunday Martta was one of the dogs showing the audience what she can do. Martta performed a simple identification task: she was scented on a T-shirt of a person who stood in line with another person on the other side of the area and she then ID'ed the correct person without hesitation by jumping up on her.

Niilo has landed!
The long awaited, beautiful baby boy, "Niilo" (Heathers Soulmate Knocks Twice) arrived in Finland from Canada.

20 May, 2005 First SAR alarm
Martta was called in for her first real search! As we're not yet members of the alarm team, we got a special permission from the police on site to be called in.
Two little girls had gone missing the night before. They had left from the other girl's home by foot around 6.30 pm.
Around 8.00 am Martta was scented on the other girl's biking helmet at the house and she picked a trail from the surrounding woods. She worked intensively until the trail came close to a busy road.
The girls were luckily found a few hrs later unharmed and it was confirmed that they had walked the same route which Martta had followed and came to the busy road which they continued north several kilometers!

Martta passed her first SAR tracking test! This was the basic test in the dark. In addition, we still need to pass the basic test in the daylight, as well as the final test both in the daylight and in the dark to become a member of the local SAR alarm unit.
