Bloodhound is not a breed for everyone. Owning a Bloodhound means a lot of work. The dog is big and very powerful. They also have the tendency to pull on leash (unless they are trained to walk nicely from the puppyhood on - this however is very difficult). The biggest downside in a Bloodhound is probably the fact that they drool A LOT. Most people cannot stand this, but if one really falls in love with this funny-looking wrinkle-face, you can adapt to anything. You will always find slobber from everywhere. A true Bloodhound person won't lose his/her humour when the dog flings slobber on his owner's face or dish. Bloodhound does not bark (they don't know how), they howl. The sound is really impressive. Bloodhounds snore, sometimes very loudly. You will never find a day with a Bloodhound boring, they make you laugh every day, for example when they bump into lamp posts with their heads down (when the extra skin makes them blind).

Bloodhound needs a lot of exercise. As youngsters Bloodhounds tend to destroy the household unless they are made tiredwith lots of activities, for example by mantrailing.

Bloodhound is very gentle and usually loves cuddling. Some bloodhounds are a bit reserved to strange people, but some dogs have more open characters.
